ELI benefits from EPFO: Deadline for eligible employees to activate UAN is November 30, 2024; Here’s how to do it.

Activation of Universal Account Number (UAN) and seeding of Aadhaar to bank account is must for employees who wish to claim benefit of Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme, which is administered through the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). This mandatory exercise needs to be completed by November 30, 2024, if you want to get the benefits of the ELI scheme. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced this new scheme during the Union Budget 2024 in July and there are three types of ELI schemes (A, B, and C). "Since the benefits under Employment-Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme, will be disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to eligible employees, Employers are urged to ensure UAN activation and Aadhaar seeding in Bank Account by 30th November 2024 in respect of all their employees who have joined in the current financial year, starting with the latest joinees,” the Ministry of Labour and Employment said in an EPFO in a circular dated November 22, 2024. Hyderabad: With just one day left for Hyderabad to remain as common capital for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh as per Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, leaders from residuary State are making a renewed demand to continue Hyderabad as common capital. “All political parties in Andhra Pradesh should immediately raise the issue of continuing Hyderabad as common capital of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh beyond 10 years period,” former CBI Joint Director VV Lakshmi Narayana said on X. Movie tickets at Rs 99: Theatres slash prices to draw audience

Struggling with fewer movie releases and decreasing crowds, theatres will be giving out discounted tickets to pull more viewers through their doors. Multiplexes and single-screen cinemas have joined hands to offer movies at just Rs 99 on May 31, which will be celebrated as Cinema Lovers Day. This special offer will be available across major multiplex chains including PVR Inox, Cinepolis India, Miraj Cinemas, Multa A2, and MovieMax. Kamal Gianchandani, head of the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) and CEO of PVR Inox Pictures, said that this initiative covers approximately 4,000 screens nationwide. While premium formats such as recliners are excluded, around 90-95% of seats will be up for grabs at the discounted rate. Additionally, many single-screen cinemas, particularly in the South, will also participate, with some offering tickets for even less than Rs 99, possibly as low as Rs 70.
