Two in Andhra Pradesh and one in Telangana tested positive: The two Telugu States are on on high alert to tackle any possible surge in Covid-19 cases and have issued a general advisory urging people to take precautions. While a patient has been tested positive in Hyderabad on Friday, two patients suffering from fever and cold in Visakhapatnam and Kadapa were found to be suffering from Covid-19. A woman from Visakhapatnam tested positive for Covid-19, marking the first reported case in the recent past in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday. On Friday, a second case was reported in Kadapa, which is yet to be confirmed. The public health departments in both the states have advised people to take general precautions to avoid any surge in cases. A general Covid-19 advisory has been issued, urging people to take preventive measures such as avoiding large gatherings and advising pregnant women and the elderly to remain indoors.

M Murali Naik, 25-year-old Armyman from Andhra dies in Pakistan shelling on Line of Control

M Murali Naik, a 25-year-old Armyman from Andhra Pradesh’s Satya Sai district, died of injuries sustained during heavy artillery and gunfire along the Line of Control early Friday morning. “His senior officer called his mother around 6 am to inform that between 3 and 3:30 am, Murali was injured while heroically fighting back after he and his fellow jawans came under heavy fire. The officer said he died while being evacuated,” Ranjit Naik, a relative, said. Murali joined the Army in December 2022, and was with the 851 Light Regiment. His parents, Mudavath Sriram and Jyothibai, worked as daily wagers in the construction industry in Mumbai, and returned to their village after Murali, their only son, joined the Army. He last came home on January 6 on a 15-day leave.
